St John Bosco College is a Catholic Secondary School belonging to the Sydney Archdiocesan System of Schools. It is located in the southern suburb of Engadine and predominantly caters for students from the Parish of St John Bosco Engadine and the neighbouring parish from the Wollongong diocese, Holy Cross Parish, Helensburgh.
The college is a school in the Salesian tradition and is administered by the Salesians of Don Bosco. The College commenced in 1978 as a Year 7 to 10 school and in 1998 extended its enrolment to also provide Years 11 & 12. Don Bosco’s charism, educational philosophy and spirituality are foundational in our approach to educating the young.
The College motto “Gaudium et Spes” meaning “Joy and Hope” is fundamental to the life of the school as it provides an image of God, a model of Church and a sense of meaning and purpose that animates all that happens in the school. The slogan “Educational Excellence in a Caring Environment” emphasises the College’s commitment to the pursuit of academic excellence and to the provision of a quality pastoral care.
