Elanora High operates a Vertical Unitized Curriculum with classes of students of mixed year level according to interest and ability rather than grouped by age. The school offers a variety of Board, Board Registered, School and Vocational Educational opportunities as discrete ten week units or as a complete Junior or Senior course. Sport, Band, Orchestra, Choir, Catering, Public Speaking and Travel both interstate and overseas offer opportunities to extend the curriculum in many directions. The school currently has a student body of a little over one thousand students, about seventy teaching staff and almost thirty ancillary staff members. A full middle management structure of ten Heads of Department came on line in 1995. Progressive devolution of responsibility to schools by the Department of Education over some years now has extended parent and community involvement in a number of committee areas within the school planning and operational structure. In addition volunteers assist in the school operations in Parent Assisted Learning programs, Special Needs areas, Canteen, Library and Front Office.
