St Francis of Assisi School first opened its doors on January 28, 1997 with 114 students in 5 classes, Transition, Years 1/2, Years 2/3, Years 4/5 and Years 6/7. It was established by the Catholic Education Council of the NT and the Parish of St Francis of Assisi, Humpty Doo to serve the rapidly growing population of the Darwin rural area. The school now has over 250 students in 10 classes from Transition to Year 6.
There is also a warm and welcoming Early Learning Centre on site which caters for children from 3 to 5 with modern facilities in a lovely bush setting within a safe environment.
