The Armidale Waldorf School is situated in the university city of Armidale in the northern tablelands of NSW. The school was established 24 years ago with a small Kindergarten class in a converted art gallery. Enrolments have now grown to over 130 students from Kindergarten to Year 8 in architect designed classrooms that harmonise with the beautful bushland setting. Many people have re-located to Armidale in order to send their children to this school. Steiner education is a unique system of teaching children based on Rudolf Steiner's wisdom of child development. Whilst fulfilling NSW Board of Studies outcomes, it concurrently gives the students a truly rounded and wholistic education by teaching intellectual subjects through the inspiration of creativity. Healthy, enthusiastic students go on regular bushwalks and adventurous camps, garden, and cook from the school's extensive organic, biodynamic garden, work assiduously to produce challenging craft projects, and hold fund-raisers for overseas orphanages and local wildlife carers.
