Peterborough School

Peterborough is a school for students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities. The school caters for students who live within Shellharbour City and Kiama municipality. The school is located within Shellharbour District and is adjacent to Warilla Primary School. The school aim is to assist students to acquire the skills, knowledge and attitudes which will facilitate the transition from school to post-school life and to assist all students to achieve independence as adults. The school's purpose is that each student: learns and develops through the provision of appropriate services; receives an education that focuses on the development of basic living skills for personal independence in society; receives a balanced education that plans for the individual's social, emotional and intellectual development; receives an education that respects personal privacy, promotes individual rights and dignity and enhances the students' sense of personal worth and identity; receives an education that broadens the individuals' opportunities and options for personally satisfying and valued lifestyle; and learns and is given the opportunity to exercise choice.
