At Algester Primary School we view curriculum in a broad sense. That is, we see it as being much more than just basic skills, although the importance of these will be stressed. Curriculum is also seen to be wider than that which takes place only in the classroom. All of the child's experiences, both at school and outside the school, constitute learning and contribute towards the shaping of the person. We therefore believe that learning should take into account children's interests and their wider life outside the school. It needs to generate in them an enthusiasm for learning and a desire to understand the world around them. It needs to give them knowledge and skills which empower them for further learning and for life.
