Howard State School is situated in Howard, a small town in the Hervey Bay, Maryborough area of Queensland, Australia. The school was established in 1879 and has a proud history of quality education in the Burrum District.
The school caters for pre-school and primary school age children to year 7. Year 2003 enrolment is 174 in the primary school and at present the school has seven teachers and a non-teaching principal.
The administration block, resource centre and three classrooms are situated in the original, high-set school. Six modern classrooms, the music room and pre-school are accessed from the administration block via covered walkways.
The grounds are large (4.5ha), well-equipped with playground equipment, ovals and a large natural area for outdoor study
