Toorak College is an Independent Day and Boarding School for Girls Years 7-12 and Co-educational Pre school to Year 4.
Learning, Courage, Integrity, Excellence and Leadership Through Service - these Toorak College values are the cornerstone of everything we do. Our focus is educating the whole child, and we are dedicated to providing the highest quality academic and co-curricular programs, using our extensive facilities to support the teaching and learning of each individual student.
Physical learning spaces can both shape and reflect the teaching and learning that goes on within them. This year we officially opened two new learning facilities, the Music Centre and the Norman Carson Library. These cutting edge buildings reflect the dynamic and innovative learning community that is Toorak College.
Music has always been an integral part of life at the School, but with the opening of our new Music Centre it now has a purpose built facility for the teaching, learning and celebration of music. Internationally renowned, Aria Award winning jazz musician James Morrison and a capella group The Idea of North performed on opening night and conducted master classes with our students. Joanna Murray-Smith, renowned playwright, screenwriter, novelist and Toorak College old girl officially opened our new library during Literature Week. During this week the school was visited by authors, poets and illustrators exploring ideas and the written and performed word. This is a library for the future, meeting the needs of a school population that will experience change as society becomes more comfortable with digital storage and usage.
Student learning at Toorak College is greatly enriched with our key directions of Academic Enhancement, Leadership and Enterprise and Internationalism. Our Junior School is committed to the International Baccalaureate Primary Years program (PYP).
