Portland Primary School is located in a picturesque coastal town in south-west Victoria. Established in 1856, the school has a current enrolment of 95 students and is located one block from the Portland CBD, surrounded by a kindergarten, residential housing, Hanlon Park (football, netball and cricket facility),Koorie Elders Centre and Shire Early Childhood Hub. The school is comprised of four main buildings. The original National School built in 1856 still stands on the grounds and an area of this historic bluestone building is currently used to house the Alcoa Portland Aluminium Seed Bank. The 1879 building houses the Portland Toy Library and of the five remaining classrooms in this building, one is utilised by the school as a music room and two as gymnastics facility.
