The Women's College provides for the academic, cultural, sporting and social needs of a vibrant community of 202 resident scholars.The Women's College was the first residential college for women attending the University of Queensland.
The College was officially opened for students in 1914 at Kangaroo Point, Brisbane to provide rural women the opportunity to undertake tertiary studies. The College relocated to its present site in St Lucia in 1958. Former scholars have excelled in all of the professions and have made outstanding contributions to communities all over Australia.
