ITRI, the Institute for Technology Research and Innovation was created in 2008 to play a key role in Deakin University's cutting edge research activities.
Located on our 360 hectare Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds, ITRI combines fundamental research with solutions-led research. Research at ITRI focuses on advanced materials, biosciences and intelligent systems and the creation of new technologies which address real world problems. That means working in partnership with the community at the local, national and international level.
ITRI is also training the next generation of students and researchers who are skilled at working between technology interfaces in growing and dynamic industries.
The expanding Geelong Technology Precinct, home to ITRI, aspires to be the leading Australian regional hub for high degree training in science and engineering.
ITRI's researchers work with our industry, government and community partners in the unique cross-disciplinary way that Deakin has forged on all its campuses.
As well as being multi-disciplinary, research at ITRI is multi-national. We have researchers drawn from all over the world to the Institute.
