Devonport Primary School was the first primary school in Devonport opening in 1886. Today it is a school of approximately 320 students. In over 120 years of education the school has forged a strong tradition and has created and maintained a strong commitment to its motto: "Let those who work hard receive the reward." We aim for all students to participate in and enjoy a broad curriculum and to achieve their personal best. Our school community is proud of the achievements of students particularly in literacy where the school has built a strong reputation as a high performing school. Devonport Primary School also recognises that to maintain high performance standards teachers need to be committed to continuous improvement and to improving the quality of instruction. To this end the school has developed an innovative model to support teachers’ ongoing professional growth because we acknowledge the strong links between improving instruction and improving learning outcomes and student performance.
