Cooinda Primary School

Cooinda is the indigenous word for 'happy meeting place' and this is true of Cooinda Primary School. The school opened in 1968 (original name Trott Street Junior School) and during its first year names were submitted to reflect the ethos of the school. The name accepted by the Department of Education and Training, made Cooinda the first school in Western Australia to hold a name other than the town/district in which it was situated.
