Welcome to Kowanyama State School. It is with respect that I acknowledge the traditional owners of this land and the elders both past and present of the Kokoberra, Kunjen and Kokomenjena tribes. Our school of 205 students from PrePrep to Year 10 is located just inland from the Gulf of Carpentaria, approximately 1 ½ hours by plane or 8 hours by car from Cairns in Far North Queensland. Despite the fact that we are a remote school in an isolated part of Queensland, we have so much to offer our students and the community.
