Our school caters for students from Kindergarten to year 6. To be eligible to enrol at Woodbury, students must be aged between 4.5 and 8 years by the 1st February of the year they commence at Woodbury.
The school is located within the beautiful peaceful grounds of Balcombe Heights Estate in Baulkham Hills.
At Woodbury we use best practise teaching methodology to educate our students. We use the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to teach students the skills they require to live independently, and take their rightful place in the community. ABA is the only teaching methodology for autism whose benefits have been consistently confirmed by independent scientific research. Woodbury is the only school in NSW to use ABA as its teaching methodology. Our programs comply fully with the NSW Board of Studies and address such areas as academics, communication, behaviour and social.
Students are taught individually and in smaller groups, transitioning to larger group settings and activities. This transition is purposeful, as students with autism must learn to learn within a group. Achieving this fundamental goal with each of our students will prepare help prepare them for a less intensive setting, whether that be a mainstream school or post-school placement.
Woodbury staff are highly trained in the delivery of ABA programs in an educational setting. Our staff are drawn from a variety of backgrounds including but not limited to, psychology, education and speech pathology. All teachers are accredited with the NSW Institute of Teachers, and in addition to a university teaching qualification, many hold additional qualifications that enhance their teaching skills. Our clinical staff have many years of experience in the field of ABA having studied and worked overseas in both educational and home based programs. Additionally, every member of our clinical team holds certification with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
Autism not only affects the child, but the whole family unit. At Woodbury, we provide support to families to ensure they have the skills to be able to manage and implement programs in the home that will enhance the quality of life for the whole family.
