The school endeavours to maintain the community's high expectations of achievement and emphasises literacy and numeracy where results in general are higher than state average. The school's constitution guides practice and states everyone has: the right to be safe; the right to learn; the right to be treated fairly; the responsibility to care for others and their property; the responsibility to try one's best. While the school is dedicated to ensuring that all students have a thorough grounding in 'the basics' it also caters for the many students who are gifted and talented.
