Wadalba Community School commenced operation on January 27th 2000 in demountable accommodation at Wyong High School. The school has been planned as a K-12 school and is due for completion of Stage 2 in January 2002. The handover of Stage 1 of the new buildings occurred on July 3rd 2000 with occupation by staff and students at the beginning of term 3, 2000. The school is unique in that it is the nucleus of a planned residential/business community in the fast growth Wadalba/Warnervale corridor. In keeping with the community concept, there was extensive collaboration in the development of the logo, uniform and motto. 130 parents completed a questionnaire at a public meeting to develop a series of beliefs for the new school. These are summarised below: At Wadalba Community School, we have a strong commitment to public education and its role in developing a sense of community in the local area and nurturing individual talents and the love of learning. We also believe that: this school should be a happy and safe place for everyone and that learning will be enhanced by strong discipline and a fair behaviour policy that has rules and consequences for improper behaviour; positive relationships are built on mutual respect, honesty, tolerance, caring, co-operation, loyalty, trust, thoughtfulness and politeness; creativity and quality work will be enhanced by teachers who understand the needs of their students and that good communications between parents, students and staff enhance positive attitudes; students learn to behave responsibly through the development of self-discipline; and all students should experience success as lifelong learners in reaching their ambition.
