Numbulwar School is located in the community of Numbulwar in East Arnhem Land, 570km southeast of Darwin. The population is approximately 1300, however can fluctuate depending on the season and ceremonial activity. There are nine clan groups that reside in and around Numbulwar. Wubuy is the traditional language. English is considered a third language after Kriol and Wubuy. The community can be accessed via 4WD in the dry season only and has an all weather airstrip; however the road from the airstrip to the community can become impassable during the wet season. Numbulwar can be accessed by regular passenger air transport services.
