Rockhampton Downs School is located 160km northeast of Tennant Creek on a working cattle station. The population of the surrounding community is approximately 30 and the school provides education services to students from Wogayela Community and Kurntarpara Outstation. The school can be accessed all year round via road.
The school has excellent relations with the community and nearby Rockhampton Downs cattle station, although lack of facilities within the community and close proximity to Tennant Creek results in regular movement of community members between the station and the town.
