Brisbane Catholic Education strives for educational excellence and Catholic values at affordable fees in 40 pre-schools, 102 parish primary schools and 26 secondary colleges in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and surrounding areas. Brisbane Catholic Education operates as the executive arm of the Catholic Education Council in the implementation of policies. Brisbane Catholic Education operates under the authority of the Executive Director of Brisbane Catholic Education to whom the Archbishop of Brisbane delegates authority for the administration and management of Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Brisbane. The role of staff of the Brisbane Catholic Education Centre is to serve and support Catholic parishes and schools in their provision of educational services to the people of the Archdiocese. Students develop best as learners and as individuals when their needs as young people are recognised and provided for. They require this care in the normal course of their development and especially at times of personal, school, family and community crisis. Such student support is provided by the structures and processes of each school and especially by all of the adults in that school community. It is a particular focus of the work of such role holders as teachers, school pastoral workers, campus ministers, guidance counsellors and student protection officers
