Surrounded by suburban development and situated on the banks of the Ross River, it is in close proximity to shopping centres and other services in the local area. The school provides quality education in a co-educational setting.
Weir State School services students from a variety of social, cultural and economic backgrounds, all drawn from semi-rural and urban settings.
At Weir we have an extra curricula program supported by specialist staff in the areas of music and sport. Students receive specialist music and physical education lessons as part of the school curriculum. Further development of students’ musical interests is encouraged through participation in instrumental music programs and choral activities. We offer the opportunity for students to develop their sporting prowess with active participation in interschool sports.
Weir State School is an active participant in many of the local community activities and we support events such as Eisteddfod, Top of the Class, Opti-Minds and ANZAC Day.
The school is supported by a Defence Service Transition Aide, Mobility Support Officer, Specialist Science Teacher and school based Chaplain.
