The school embraces both traditional and modern values. It was first opened in 1895 as a small rural school. Today it serves as a vibrant educational facility linking a community that covers a large physical area. The students at Park Ridge come from a diverse range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Within Logan City the school is unique because of its long history.
Given the physical location of Park Ridge State School many children travel considerable distances to school by bus, many arriving early and remaining for a considerable period after school. Other children generally travel to and from school by private transport. A significant number of students attend child care facilities both before and after school. Camp Australia in partnership with the School's P & C Association conduct before and after school care in the Community Hall adjacent to the School's Campus. They also conduct Vacation Care!
