Taroona Primary School is located in a bushland setting overlooking the Derwent River. It was opened on its present site in 1960 and has around 330 students currently enrolled from Kindergarten to year 6. The size of our school and its beautiful surrounds provide a unique environment for children to grow and realise their individual potential. Within this environment we develop a caring and friendly atmosphere whilst providing the best possible range of programs, services and resources. Fundamental to the operation of our school is the valuing of individuals for their needs, interests and potentials they each have and the belief that our shared task and challenge—as teachers, parents and educational leaders—is to provide supportive conditions of learning that make our children want to continue to learn, as well as developing skills and providing knowledge which will enrich that learning. At Taroona Primary School, parents can be assured that the school's long tradition of providing a caring and stimulating environment for all children will always be paramount in our minds and our school will aim to develop in all students a justifiable level of self-confidence, self-worth and achievement.
