Wilmot Primary school is nestled in picturesque farmland midway between Bass Strait and Cradle Mountain. The town has claim to the original Coles store. A shop still operates on the same site. The nearest town to Wilmot is Forth, about 30 km away down a winding road. The school has a population of just under 50 students ranging from Kinder to Grade 6. There are two class groups; a junior class with Prep to Grade 2 students and a senior class with Grade 3 to 6 students. The Kinders attend on Wednesdays and Fridays. Music and Physical Education lessons are provided for the children. It is difficult for students to become involved in extracurricular activities such as sports teams due to our location and our small numbers. However where parents can transport their children to larger centres such as Ulverstone, Devonport or Sheffield, children do have some opportunities. Attached to the school is an Online Access Centre which is well patronised by the locals as well as tourists on their way to Cradle Mountain.
