Mount Hawthorn Primary School is located 10 minutes from the Perth CBD in the suburb of Mount Hawthorn. The school population is drawn from a high socio-economic area, where most parents are employed in professional and semi professional fields. Education is highly valued by the parent community and this is reflected in the strong tradition of consistently high attendance across family generations.
The student population has steadily risen to approximately 670 students. An offsite Kindergarten in Leederville houses 80 students and offers four groups two full days per week. On the main school site there are three full time Pre-Primary classes. The primary school is divided into two main buildings with ten classrooms on each of the two levels. There is also a separate Education Support Centre on the same campus, autonomous from the primary school. A state of the art library was built in 2008 and is shared with the Education Support Centre. Currently Music, LOTE (Italian), Physical Education and Art are offered as specialist programs.
