William Duncan State School is committed to providing quality education within a supportive, stimulating environment, concerned with the ongoing intellectual, physical, cultural, social emotional and development of each individual.
Our school opened in 1987 with 186 children in Years 1 to 7 and
grew into a large school very quickly catering for the needs of over 1100 students at its peak. We currently have approximately 670 students enrolled.
Our school is a co-educational facility where a variety of learning structures are utilised to maximise student learning opportunities. We predominantly offer single year level classes with the exception of some composite classes.
Our school caters for a wide range of educational needs for students from Prep to Year 7. The staff within the Special Education Unit on site collaborate with classroom teachers to cater for students with specific needs based on diagnosed impairments or disorders. Other specialist staff attend to assisting those students identified as having learning difficulties. The Special Education Unit caters for the needs of students whose special needs revolve around: Intellectual impairment, speech and language impairment, autistic spectrum disorder and physical impairment.
