Peppimenarti School is located in the community of Peppimenarti 320km southwest of Darwin. The population of the community is approximately 300 and languages spoken in the community include Ngangikkurrungururr, Nangowmeri, Marrashabin and Marradun. The community can be accessed via 4WD although access to the community during the wet season can be limited. The community can also be accessed via air through chartered flights only and has an all weather airstrip.
Peppimenarti School is part of the Top End Group School and provides education to students from early years to middle years and also provides education services to the Emu Point Homeland Learning Centre 40km from Peppimenarti. Middle years students travel from Emu Point Homeland Learning Centre every day to take part in the programs offered. Travel during the wet season for these students can be restricted.
The school has a nutrition program in place, including breakfast, lunch and recess. Students are actively involved in preparing meals for this program. The school also has a vegetable garden in which students are involved in developing and maintaining the garden. Cultural programs are also a feature at the school with students learning traditional woodworking and weaving from community members.
