WoodLinks State School we acknowledge that it is not possible to teach all children all knowledge. However it is possible and expected that all children can be equipped with the tools necessary to access all knowledge they require when and if appropriate.
To do that it is imperative that children develop a deep understanding of how they learn and how to adjust their learning to best fit the task. They need to develop higher order thinking skills so that, not only can they access knowledge and information, but that they can critically evaluate and judge the data they source.
Our school is focused on Brain Focused Learning through our Sustainable Learning Environment. We are establishing organic, edible gardens throughout the school which will form an integral part of the children’s learning environment. Through the gardens, chook pens, worm farms, composting and recycling structures children will be able to take their learning outside of the traditional classroom and apply skills and knowledge learnt to real life situations.
