The ICT in Education and Research group brings together a dynamic mix of people, some with many years of experience in educational ICT policy, curriculum and research and others who are early career researchers but have extensive ICT in schools experience. Members of the Cluster have achieved national and international recognition for their practice and dissemination of research, and their capability in providing advice concerning matters of policy and curriculum for education systems.
As a group we have developed and value strong links with schools, and have a demonstrated commitment to effective and collaborative functioning with both pre-service and practising teachers with the aim of improving learning outcomes for students in all primary and secondary schools. We have conducted research at early childhood, primary, secondary and tertiary levels of education. As a group we are committed to research-led teaching. ICT in Education and Research group members regularly review submissions from peers and publish in teacher journals, make presentations at teacher conferences and conduct teacher professional development.
The group has a demonstrated commitment to engaging in research and publishing the findings of that research. Through a number of applied research projects in schools, members of the group have investigated various aspects of curriculum, teaching and learning at all levels and across most subject areas of the education system. In addition to being recognised as a worldwide leader in the teaching about, and the use of, ICT in schools, in recent time the group has developed a strategic research profile in the use of ICT in schools for language (especially the concept of multi-modal literacies), mathematics, music, and science. The group’s strong research base provides a firm foundation for consulting to all levels of government in Australia and overseas.
