At Avenues Early Learning Centre we aim to provide a warm, caring atmosphere where each child and their family feels welcome and secure and where diversity is accepted, recognised and valued. Our aim is to foster within each child an awareness and acceptance of others, developing respect for those who may be different from themselves in terms of lifestyle, abilities and culture.
We acknowledge that parents are children’s first educators and aim to work collaboratively to develop shared goals and expectations for each child by providing an environment where connecting links with the family and the wider world are affirmed and extended.
Underpinning the learning experiences within the centre is the fundamental belief that each child is unique, bringing to the learning environment an exclusive set of capabilities and pre-dispositions. The environment will allow children to become competent and confident learners through play that is valued as leading to meaningful learning. This emergent curriculum takes the child's interest and turns it into a learning process, acknowledging the child as a learner, but also encouraging them to share and develop their knowledge with the others in the environment.
