Westerway Primary School is a small school in a rural setting in the Derwent Valley, approximately 70 kilometres from Hobart. Our school serves a large geographical area including Westerway, Ellendale, Fentonbury, National Park and Tyenna. The school was originally opened in 1920 with an enrolment of 36 students. Over the past three years we have had an average enrolment of 72 students from kindergarten to grade 6. Our school is situated in an attractive and stimulating setting opposite the Tyenna River. There is a strong focus on early learning and the development of literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum. We aim to develop the full intellectual, social, emotional, moral and physical potentials of all students in a caring and supportive learning environment.
