Merrimac State School is renowned on the Gold Coast for its outstanding natural setting, characterised by an array of wildlife and bushland. In recent years Merrimac has embarked on a major upgrade of information communication technology and as a result the school is fully networked, with state of the art computers, local area network and video conferencing facilities.
Merrimac provides a balanced curriculum program with major activities in physical education and sport, enrichment for more able learners, support services for students with learning difficulties and learning disabilities, early literacy strategies, a whole school reading program, environmental education and a range of choral and instrumental programs.
Merrimac's behaviour management program operates on a level system with students being placed on levels according to their behaviour. An extensive rewards and acknowledgement system is also in place to recognise positive behaviours.
